OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, Florida - When it comes to parenthood, maybe you spank, maybe you don't.  In today's litigious society, maybe you want to get permission first.

That was the case in Okeechobee County, Florida, near West Palm Beach.

The father of a 12-year-old girl called the cops to have them come witness him spank her with a paddle after she got into a heated argument with her sister.

Daddy dearest wanted to make sure he wasn't out-of-line and committing a crime, while putting his daughter in line.

The cops arrived, watched, and wrote a police report that said no crime was committed.

The under-sheriff of Okeechobee County Noel Stephens says, "There is a big difference between beating your child and disciplining your child. You are entitled to paddle your child...within reason as long as you're paddling their butt."

That's until you run into those parents who need parental supervision.
