HITCHCOCK, Tx. - Congratulations are in order for Texas' own Michael Sam. The 2013 SEC co-Defensive Player of the Year and his college boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, are engaged.
The couple made headlines last year when they shared an emotional embrace on national television after Sam was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. He became the first openly gay player to ever be drafted into the National Football League. Since then, Sam was dropped by the Rams and the Dallas Cowboys and is currently a free agent.
Many have speculated that Sam's sexuality may have jeopardized his football career, but Sam says he has no regrets. Congratulations, gentlemen!
