GRAND ISLAND, Neb - A Florida woman was arrested after cops say she drowned a puppy in a Nebraska airport bathroom so she could board a plane.

Grand Island Police say Cynthia V. Anderson, 56, tried to board a flight at Central Nebraska Regional Airport with two crated dogs and three newborn puppies. She was told she couldn't get on the plane because the puppies were too young.

Anderson supposedly gave two of the puppies to her parents, who live in Nebraska, and allegedly tried to board another flight the next day with the third pup hidden in her carry-on. She was told no again. That's when Anderson was reportedly seen going into a bathroom.

Another woman reported finding the dead puppy in the toilet.

Gary Bodenheimer, Anderson's brother-in-law, said, "So upset that this has happened to that little puppy. It's hard for us to understand."

Laurie Dethloff, Central Nebraska Humane Society Executive Director, added, "It's disheartening because we were only a mile away."
