HOUSTON -- Yasmin Eleby had vowed that if she didn't find love by forty, she'd ditch the search and say yes to herself. So earlier this year, she did just that.

“I did it because I like weddings and I thought it would be a unique way to celebrate my birthday,” says the east Texas woman who lives and works in a school overseas.

She says friends and family were all on board, but not everyone has been feeling the love.

“I didn’t think the idea of me being confident... and loving myself would somehow offend so many other people,” she told us via Skype.

But Yasmin is not upset about the unexpected backlash. She takes it in stride as she continues to respect her vows: “that I would want to love myself, I want to honor the unique individual that I am and forgive myself.”

She says the marriage was not about bashing men, and in-fact she’s still open to there being a Mr. Right. But in the meantime, she's just ready to be Mrs. Right now.
