SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Lawmakers in Puerto Rico are weighing a bill that is essentially a fat kid tax. The plan would roll-out in layers. It first calls on teachers to point out overweight students, and then parents would have to be educated on health.
If there's no apparent improvement after six months (i.e. if Johnny isn't healthy or anorexic), then Child Family Services could get involved, and after that there could be fines of as much as $500 initially and up to $800 after that. Talk about a hefty price.
