BAYTOWN, TX – Baytown Police have arrested Jose Juan Chavez and charged him with capital murder. He was wanted as a person of interest in the double murders of Jarvis Morgan, 17, and Alex Chavez, 18.

Police say Jose Juan Chavez is believed to have been directly involved in the abduction and kidnapping of both victims and was complicit in transporting them forcefully against their will into Chambers County, where he and others knowingly stood by as the two teens were brutally murdered.

Baytown detectives developed information during the day on Tuesday that Jose Chavez was still in the Harris County area, and was believed to be making plans to flee to avoid apprehension, but detectives were able to find Chavez early this morning at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Massey Tompkins in Baytown.

Baytown SWAT surrounded the apartment and apprehended Chavez after he complied with requests to surrender.   He is being booked into the municipal jail and will be interviewed by detectives.
