HOUSTON, TX - The search is on for three men who robbed a northwest Houston convenience store and drew their guns at an off-duty Harris County deputy.

Just before 9 p.m. Monday, the deputy was working another job as security for area Valero stores. She stopped at the location at 8111 Tidwell and checked in with the clerk. A phone call drew the deputy outside and when she looked back inside, she saw three men holding the clerk at gunpoint. That's when she yelled "Police!" to get the suspects' attention.

"The suspects exit the store, at which point they turn to her and draw their weapons toward her," said HPD spokeswoman Jodi Silva. "The deputy, in fear of her safety, discharges her weapon."

Investigators say the deputy fired several more shots as the men ran around the corner of the building, their guns drawn the whole time. So far, police haven't caught them.
