Brain cancer patients, supporters and family members came together at NRG Park for the 13th annual Run for the Rose.
The event honors the life of Dr. Marnie Rose, who was both a doctor and a patient. In 2002 she succumbed to the disease at the age of 28.
Over the last 12 years the Run for the Rose has raised more than $4 million dollars for MD Anderson Cancer Center and Children`s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The first run drew more than 1,800 participants.
The run has raised more money each year since the first walk netted $90,000. At last year's walk, the tally was $600,000.
Rose's mom says that they don't plan on slowing down, because they're seeing progress in the life of brain cancer patients.
