AUSTIN - It takes a special kind of person to be a nurse, and it takes an extremely brave person to be a flight nurse and rescuer on a medical helicopter. That's the passion that drove Starflight nurse, Kristin McLain, of Austin.

On Monday night, during a tense rescue of a woman  from the Barton Creek Greenbelt (an area  with limestone cliff walls and dense vegetation) McLain fell from the medical rescue helicopter. Just tragic.

The 46-year-old nurse died at the scene. The original victim suffered minor injuries.

The FAA is investigating her death, to see how a woman who spent her life saving others was lost in such a tragedy.
