Houston Food Bank named 2015 Food Bank of the Year

HOUSTON --  It feeds more than 800,000 people a year, and now the Houston Food Bank is being recognized for its efforts.

It was named "2015 Food Bank of the Year" by Feeding America, beating out more than 200 others.

Feeding America says Houston got the award because of the instrumental role it serves in improving the community, and because of its high standard of operations.

The Houston Food Bank distributes 59 million meals each year.
