HOUSTON, Tx - Eating champion Erik Denmark took home the crown Saturday winning the male title at Nathan's Famous Hot Dog eating contest held in Houston.

Male and female contestants competed to see who could eat the most hot dogs in a 10-minute span.

"I feel great, " said Denmark. "It feels awesome to go back to Coney Island."

Already ranked sixth nationally before the contest, Denmark finished with 29 and 1/2  dogs, close to the predicted amount of 30 from George Shea, the chairman of Major League Eating.

As the winner of the contest, Denmark now has an all expense paid trip to New York City where he will compete in the finals held in Coney Island on July 4.
