HOUSTON, TX - Quanell X and families of those having suffered in Harris County Jail gathered downtown to protest what they call the torture of inmates.

This follows former Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia’s firing of six officers involved in reportedly poor treatment of Terry Goodwin, a mentally ill inmate, at the Harris County Jail. Goodwin's mother, Michelle Lambert was in attendance.

So, too, was the family of Norman Hicks, Sr. who claim Norman was beaten to death in an attorney`s booth inside the jail in 2011.

The timing of this gathering is no accident, as Garcia announces his intentions for mayor.   Garcia didn`t have any comments for this story.

Politically timed or not, if things are as bad as these family members claim, then it's important that we hear about it.
