ARCOLA, TX - Investigators are trying to figure out what prompted a woman to walk into traffic where she was hit and killed by a car.

Late Tuesday night, DPS investigators say a couple had just left a restaurant in Arcola, then pulled over along Highway 6 near Pin Oak Rd. That's when the driver, 52-year-old Jo Beth Miller, got out of the car and walked into the highway. An oncoming driver didn't see Miller in time to stop, hitting her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS says the driver who hit Miller is cooperating fully with investigators. No charges are expected.
