SEAFORD, NY - Police officers from across the country gathered Friday to give a final salute to an NYPD officer who was shot last week while on duty. Officer Brian Moore was 25 years old and had been on the force less than five years.
"He dreamed of getting the bad guys off the street. He wanted to make a difference," said New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Police say Moore and another cop were sitting in an unmarked squad car in Queens when they saw a man adjusting something in his waistband.
Moore pulled up behind the man to try to question him and that's when things took an unfortunate turn.
The suspect, identified as Demetrius Blackwell allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at both officers.
Moore was struck in the head and died two days later.
