Houston Happenings this Memorial Day weekend

HOUSTON, TX – There’s a lot to do this Memorial Day weekend, but here are some highlights:

Immerse yourself in panels, cosplay, gaming and programming during Comicpalooza at the GRB. Doors open at 12 p.m. Friday and a weekend pass will only set you back $60. You’ll be able to meet stars like Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, Rosario Dawson and George Takei.

Summer of Epic Adventures
Even though the kids are out of school on Monday, you can keep their brains stimulated over at the Children’s Museum of Houston. It’s kicking off what it calls a “Summer of Epic Adventures” this weekend by celebrating American pride. Kids will be able to build a roller coaster, design a bird mask, learn Morse code and more.

Katy Mills Super Sale
If shopping’s more your thing, time to head over to Katy Mills. Starting Friday morning, it’s hosting its first Super Sale of the Summer. That means its stores will be offering blowout deals on top of the usual savings. The sale runs through Monday.

Help celebrate the launch of two new METRORail lines with a free party and concert on Saturday afternoon. At 3 p.m., catch a free ride to one of the community celebrations along the new Purple line, which runs to southeast, or Green line, which goes to the East End. Then jump back on and head to BBVA Compass Stadium for a free concert featuring Frankie J, NE-YO and two fireworks displays.

Bubble Run
Slip and slide through tons of bubbles during a squeaky clean and non-competitive 5K race at Sam Houston Race Park on Saturday. The Bubble Run features foam bogs all along the course, so you’ll be jogging through colored bubbles. The race starts at 9 a.m. and registration is $50, though kids younger than 6 can run for free.
