HOUSTON, TX - Members of the Meyerland community came together on Sunday for a community healing gathering. Many of the attendees have been affected by the Memorial Day floods.

"Even in the midst of the loss, the way people respond, the way people come together is just an incredible reminder to us that we're not alone," one of the organizers, Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss, said.

The Southwest Houston area has also been helped by members of a Facebook group, the Moms & Ladies of Southwest Houston.  The group has helped to organize the delivery of meals to those in need during the last two weeks.

"That's been amazing to go up and say 'I have six warm delicious meals for your family tonight," one volunteer, Andria Ward, said.  "They're so thankful for the information, for the meals, for the smile, for the hug."

Ward says hundreds of volunteers have gathered together to deliver lunches and dinners to at least 65 homes a day.
