PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - Just 10 months after being convicted of killing his girlfriend to death on Valentine's Day back in 2013, famed sprint runner, Oscar Pistorius may be released from prison much sooner than anyone expected.

Officials say a South African parole board plans to recommend that the disgraced athlete be released from prison as early as August.

Apparently, under South African law, Pistorius must serve at least 10 months of his sentence before being considered for release.

Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison last October for culpable homicide. He admitted firing shots through a bathroom door, but claims he thought it was an intruder, not his girlfriend.
