WASHINGTON, DC – Uncle Sam is going back to Iraq. Or, more accurately, President Obama is sending up to 450 more US troops to train Iraqi troops. The Pentagon said it needed about 1,000.

It’s not clear how many of those troops will concentrate on training. Some could be used for security, air support, or medical help.

The US already has 3,000 troops in Iraq.

This comes as the administration tries to figure out how to help Iraq win back territory seized by ISIS.

US led coalition airstrikes don’t seem to help. And, there’s concern within the administration that ISIS isn’t driving Iraqi forces out of cities, so much as Iraqi forces are getting into vehicles and driving themselves to safety.

Meantime, ISIS is stepping up its recruitment campaign with a new video showing the training of child soldiers, or “cubs” as ISIS calls them.

The release of this video comes one year after Islamic State terrorists swept through Iraq and took control of Mosul, the country’s third-largest city.

ISIS released another video, this one directed to Muslims in the Balkans in Eastern Europe.

The narrator speaks in perfect American English as he calls for Balkan Muslims to join the fight to spread the so-called caliphate ISIS claims to have established last year.

Twenty-first century propaganda to win hearts and minds in an ancient struggle for control of their religion.
