SPOKANE, WA – There was a time when a white person could get away with pretending to be black. But that was in Hollywood, for the movies.

No white guy would try to do that today. But what about a white chick?

Rachel Dolezal may be that one chick.

She’s been going around claiming she’s African-American, on postings, public appearances, and on her application to appointment to the Spokane, Washington, police Ombudsman Commission where she checked off white, black, and American Indian.

Dolezal is the president of Spokane’s NAACP chapter.

She posted a picture on the Facebook page with an African-American man she claims was her father.

The truth is her mom and dad are white. And for all those birthers out there, her birth certificate from Montana proves it.

Her parents confirm their daughter is a white chick, and they say they support her work for civil rights. It’s just that they prefer she not lie about her race.

The City of Spokane is looking into whether Dozezal violated the city’s code of ethics when she applied for the commission that she now chairs.

In a statement, the mayor and city council president said they “are committed to independent citizen oversight and take very seriously the concerns raised regarding the chair of the independent citizen police ombudsman commission.”

They didn’t call it a white lie, but clearly it’s not just a simple black and white issue.
