Fire destroys under-construction townhouses in Houston’s Third Ward

HOUSTON, TX – Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a massive fire that destroyed several townhouses that were under construction in the Third Ward.

Fire crews got the call just after 10 p.m. Tuesday. When they got to the scene near Holman St. and St. Emanuel St., they found the townhouses engulfed in flames. Neighbors describe the scene as terrifying.

“I was actually in the shower and my roommate started yelling at me to get out of the house. So I just threw clothes on real quick, grabbed my dog and my purse and ran out,” said neighbor Kristen LaBuhn.

It took fire crews about 30 minutes to get the flames under control.
