HOUSTON, TX - You can get a ride, but your gun can't! The cab-like company Uber says it's banning both riders and drivers from packing heat. The popular ride sharing startup stated they changed their firearms policy to make sure riders and drivers feel comfortable.
According to Uber, "Any rider or driver found to have violated this prohibition may lose access to the Uber platform."
Before the ban, Uber deferred to local law on the issue. And while some see no problem with a potential passenger being denied a ride because of a carried firearm, a few people think the ban might make drivers more vulnerable. So, according to Uber, it's their way or the highway. But will Texans stick to their guns and find another ride instead?
