HUTTO, TX - A sad day for police in Hutto, Texas, just outside Austin, as they lost a veteran in the line of duty.

Hutto Police say Sgt. detective Christopher Kelley, 37, died after being hit and dragged with his own squad car during a traffic stop.

"All of us, we are a small city with only 90 employees. We all knew each other, saw each other everyday. It is hard to imagine what it is going to be like without Chris," said Hutto city manager, Karen Daly.

Reportedly, Kelley got into a physical altercation with 26-year-old Colby Ray Williamson after pulling him over.

Then Williamson allegedly jumped into Kelley's squad car and sped off, striking him and dragging him several feet.

Kelley died shortly after at Seton Medical Center.

Police arrested Williamson and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a public servant.

The Texas Rangers are looking further into how this officer's life came to a crashing halt.  For Williamson, looks like some upgraded charges could be on the road ahead.
