BALTIMORE, MD -- A two-year-old girl is dead after being left in a hot car overnight. Police say the toddler’s father Wilbert Carter was out drinking while his daughter endured temperatures hotter than 90 degrees.

When Carter woke up the following afternoon at about 4pm, that’s when he realized his daughter was missing. By that point, she had suffered second-degree burns.

Carter told police he didn’t remember much of the night before. He’s been charged with second-degree murder and child abuse. Family claims Carter had sole custody of the child.
