NEW TAIPEI, TAIWAN - One of summer`s great destinations, the water park, has become the scene of mayhem across the globe at the Formosa Fun Coast in Taiwan.

During a private party, an explosion injured approximately 500, at least eight critically, after a massive fireball overtook the stage. Firefighters say an unidentified flammable colored powder blew up midair over the stage during the party thrown by a marketing company that rented out space at the park.

Inflated inner tubes were used as makeshift stretchers to transfer some victims to hospitals.

The mayor called it the worst incident mass injury the city has ever seen. Taiwan's premier ordered a ban on using colored powder at events until the substance could be deemed safe.

The organizer of the party and the person in charge of lighting and hardware are being questioned by authorities.
