SPRING, TX - We've heard of cars and trucks used for smash-and-grab robberies in Houston, but in Spring, burglars used a backhoe.

Harris County deputies say just before 3 a.m. Monday, the suspects tried to smash into Warthog Firearms on Main St. They ended up getting away with one rifle, but the owner says that gun didn't even work. He adds that he's not surprised this happened, which is why Warthog was ready.

"We've tried to do our due diligence to make it theft-proof, but when you have to use a backhoe to get in, we must have done something right," said owner Joe Bargas.

Bargas says he'll get to work to reopen the business. He says he knows he has a lot of loyal customers who will be anxious to come in.
