Houston Dash’s Carli Lloyd leads America to Women’s World Cup title

HOUSTON, TX – The Phoenix on Westheimer became Women’s World Cup Central on Sunday as the Houston Dash hosted a viewing party for the tournament final.

The USA won 5-2 over Japan, clinching the country’s first World Cup trophy since 1999.

Houston Dash player Carli Lloyd starred for the Americans, scoring a hat-trick of goals. Lloyd is the first woman to ever score three goals in a World Cup final.

Meghan Klingenberg and Morgan Brian joined Lloyd as Dash players to win the World Cup with Team USA.
