AUSTIN, TX – Texas governor Greg Abbott is weighing in on the release of a video involving a Planned Parenthood executive.

In the undercover video, anti-abortion activists pose as employees of a biotech firm and meet with the exec. She’s seen talking about donating fetal tissue from abortions for medical research.

Abbott released this statement in response to the video:

“The video of a high-level Planned Parenthood executive discussing the details of internal abortion procedures – including harvesting of baby body parts – is unnerving and appalling. In light of the video, I have directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to conduct an immediate investigation of this alleged practice in addition to a separate investigation ordered by the Texas Office of the Attorney General.”

Planned Parenthood says it does donate fetal tissue for use in stem cell research, but only with a patient’s permission.
