Suspect killed during attempted liquor store robbery

HOUSTON, TX - An attempted robbery had deadly consequences for the suspect Tuesday afternoon in northwest Houston.

Just after 3 p.m., police say the suspect walked into the Sand Liquor store in the Greenspoint area, jumped the counter and demanded money. The clerk, though, wasn't going down without a fight.

"During the struggle, the weapon was discharged. The weapon he was carrying discharged and he lost his life," said HPD homicide Det. Ivan Ulloah.

Officers haven't revealed many details about the suspect, except that he was young.
