LOS ANGELES, CA - Caitlyn Jenner called on the ESPYs crowd to give people a chance, even when it's not always easy to understand their situation. Accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, Jenner who is becoming a transgender woman said "it's about all of us accepting one another."
Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, was a 1976 Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon.
Watching from Houston, community activist Jenifer Rene Pool appreciated Jenner's speech.
"The fact that she's actually able to present herself and deliver that kind of speech, in that kind of environment, only adds to the openness of the community," Pool said.
Jenner was introduced at the award ceremony by Abby Wambach of the U.S. women's soccer team.
