NORWALK, CT - A mom in Connecticut is definitely not winning any Mother-of-the-Year awards after this week, and she's lucky things didn't end worse.

Hiroko Kurihara left her 4-month-old baby in a hot car while she went to work out. And she actually did it twice. Police say, "they had found out that this was the second time apparently that she had gone to the gym that day and left the child twice"

The mother was arrested for risk of injury to a child and leaving her child  unattended in a car, but she's lucky it didn't turn into a murder case.

It was a quick-thinking assistant teacher who heard the child crying in a parking garage. Alicia Reid spotted the baby and tried to get inside the car. When she couldn't, she called police. Police and firefighters showed up and broke into the car.

An eyewitness said, "the baby was definitely hot and warm when i touched her toes.  she wasn't sweaty but could tell had been crying a while and under distress."

Perhaps the mother will learn a lesson in parenting and wise up before the child gets older.
