HOUSTON, TX – Scott Kazmir’s homecoming start couldn’t have gone much better on Thursday.  The Cy Falls grad pitched 7.2 innings of scoreless baseball for the Astros, and on top of that, the team won on a walk-off home run by Jason Castro.

“It’s a great feeling to be back home and get this win,” Kazmir said after the win.

The lefty came to the Astros in a trade with Oakland last week.  After striking out his final batter, Kazmir went to the dugout as the fans gave a standing ovation.

“You almost get butterflies when you come off the field like that and have all the support of Houston,” Kazmir said. “It just makes you really appreciate everything.”

The Astros continue their home stand with a three-game series against Arizona this weekend.
