MURRAY, UT - Most people would think the American flag is something we all have the right to fly outside our home. But a neighborhood outside Salt Lake City is in a fight with the homeowners association over just that. The HOA is actually fining homeowners for displaying the flag.

Emotions ran high at an HOA meeting, where residents were supposed to get clarification on the rules. The board considers the flag a decoration and is asking homeowners not to fly it after holidays.

That's not sitting well with one homeowner who was already fined. "It is not a holiday decoration. People have died for that and there's no way that that is a holiday decoration. We have a right a constitutional right to fly our flags."

The HOA President agrees that people have the right to fly the flag, but want people to display them in their backyards or driveways.

It sounds like these people should remember that their cute little HOA wouldn't even exist, were it not for the sacrifices so many have made for the flag.
