HOUSTON – An off-duty police officer opened fire on a juvenile after he says the young man pointed a gun at him.

It happened before midnight in the Montrose area.

The officer was returning from working a second job and as he was driving in his own car, he noticed a car with four juveniles parked on Woodhead.

Investigators say the driver then started following the officer.

The officer eventually pulled over, but the suspects also stopped. One of them got out of the car and ran toward him pointing a gun.

The officer then shot at the suspect injuring him.

The suspects tried to get away, but police caught up with them.

The injured one was taken to a hospital while the other three were taken in for questioning.
