HOUSTON - The family of Juan Cuevas—the man who fell from a scaffolding collapse on Richmond Avenue earlier this month—is suing Burton Construction Company of Harris County.

According to attorney Benny Agosto, Cuevas suffered severe brain damage and is now in a vegetative state.

“Doctors have a very grim prognosis as far as his medical condition and his brain activity,” said Agosto at a Monday morning press conference.

The lawsuit alleges that Burton was negligent and failed to follow proper safety procedures. Not only did the scaffolding collapse, but Cuevas' safety line was also severed in the process. He fell over seven stories.

So far there's no word from Burton Construction.
