NEW YORK, NY - Sesame Street revealed its newest resident on Wednesday: Julia, a preschool age girl with autism.

Julia is part of the huge "See Amazing" online initiative launched by Sesame Workshop to spread awareness and generate discussion about the disorder. She's featured in several web resources, including a storybook and daily routine cards.

One of Sesame Street's strengths is its ability to adapt just as the kids who watch do. Over the past couple of years, it added Lily, whose family is homeless, and Alex, whose dad is in prison. The South African version even includes an HIV-positive character named Kami.
