GRANTS, NM - Staying up all night binge-watching a TV show can leave you feeling a bit like a zombie in the morning. But for one New Mexico man, a night of binge-watching Rick and the gang kill zombies on 'The Walking Dead,' ended with a real-life horror show.

"The suspect alleges that his binge-watching of 'The Walking Dead' caused him to see his friend as turning into a zombie," said Grants Police spokesperson Moses Marquez.

Police say Damon Perry admitted to punching and kicking Christopher Paquin until he was unconscious, because he thought his friend-turned-zombie was about to bite him. Officers also say he beat his victim with an electric guitar and a microwave, and stabbed him with a knife.

"In my 13 years of doing this, that was the most brutal scene that I have ever seen," said Marquez.

Perry told officers he and Paquin were also doing some binge-drinking leading up to the murder. Police say Perry has a history of alcohol-related arrests, and has been aggressive toward officers and others.

Officers were called to the apartment complex after a 9-1-1 caller said there was a man chasing a woman around with a knife. Two maintenance men tackled Perry and held him down until police arrived.

No word if medical staff tested him for any zombie viruses, but once reality sets in for Perry, it's really going to bite.
