BALTIMORE, MD - As Michael Phelps gets ready to dive into the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sports Illustrated netted an interview with the Olympic swimmer. What he reportedly told them is making a splash.
Following his very public victories and defeats, Phelps says there was a time he was "not wanting to be alive anymore."
It's unclear if Phelps was trying to kill himself, but he wants everyone to know he's learned from his mistakes.
He's gone through rehab for driving under the influence at high speed in Maryland last year.
Now he says he's ready to swim on. He said "you're going to see a different me than you saw in any of the other Olympics."
