HOUSTON – A man was shot and killed after officials say he lunged at a deputy with a knife in north Harris County.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday near an apartment complex off Veterans Memorial Drive and Blue Bell Road.

A woman had apparently called 911 saying that she was being followed by her ex-boyfriend who she had a restraining order against.

Officials say when deputies got there, they found the man and followed him until he made his way back to a nearby convenience store.

Authorities say the man got out of his car with a knife in his hand. The deputy fired a Taser, but that did not work.

The man then ran to an apartment complex where officials say he lunged at the deputy with the knife and say that’s when the deputy fired his weapon twice.

The man died at the scene.

The shooting is currently under investigation.
