Motive revealed in Deputy Goforth’s murder

HOUSTON – The man accused of shooting Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth was indicted on a capital murder charge Monday.

Court documents allege 31-year-old Shannon Miles shot and killed the 47-year-old because he was a member of law enforcement.

According to prosecutors, Miles shot Goforth 15 times as he was filling up his patrol car at a gas station in northwest Harris County in back in august.

Miles is currently being held without bond.

He’s expected to appear in court Dec. 9.
