SHALIMAR, FL - We all know beauty can come at a high price, but it shouldn't come at the expense of your health and well-being.
This is a Florida woman's nightmarish tale about a boob job gone horribly, horribly wrong. Anne Ziegenhorn says her saline breast implants were full of mold, and it nearly killed her.
"I felt like that was it, I was gonna die, and the doctors were gonna let me die," said Ziegenhorn.
Anne was perfectly healthy when she suddenly started gaining weight, losing her vision and experiencing burning, unrelenting pain. There were sores all over her body, and her mind was so cloudy, she thought she might have Alzheimer's. Doctors misdiagnosed her with everything from Lupus to Arthritis to Thyroid problems, but it was Dr. Susan Kolb who finally figured it out.
"My experience in doing this for thirty years is that eventually everybody will become ill from their breast implants," said Dr. Kolb, a plastic surgeon.
Dr. Kolb isn't anti-implant--she's got fake tatas, too, but the author of 'The Naked Truth About Breast Implants' says she's seeing lots of women with moldy implants, due to defective valves. You could say she knows 'breast,' and that means getting implants replaced every 8 to 15 years.
Meanwhile, Ziegenhorn has formed 'The Implant Truth Survivors Committee' to educate women and doctors, and to force the FDA to listen.
"I literally willed myself to live and willed myself to get this message out here," said Ziegenhorn, "This is my purpose, this is why I'm here."
Hey, if you must increase your bust, that's your call, but just know that the pursuit of perfection could mold you into something less than desirable.
