Legendary UH basketball coach Guy Lewis laid to rest

HOUSTON - Funeral services for Hall of Fame University of Houston basketball coach Guy V. Lewis were held Thursday morning at Houston's First Methodist Church.

Lewis coached the University of Houston team from 1956 to 1986 and led them to five Final Four appearances. He was inducted into the Naismith basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.

Lewis coached Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler during the Phi Slama Jama period in the 1980s when they lost consecutive championship games to NC State and Georgetown.
