Sad facts, but here's some sobering news. Tipsy New Year's Eve revelers can take advantage of a number of rides that won't land them in jail, or possibly worse.
UBER, the popular ride-sharing service just shuttled their one-billionth passenger. This New Year's Eve, they'll be adding a lot more. But for UBER users, don't say we didn't warn you. Expect bigger costs with "surge pricing" during their busiest night of the year. Guess that's the price to pay if you what to party with UBER. Another pay to party ride service is the Houston wave, a bus that gives you all night rides along their routes for 20 bucks. They only shuttle inside The Loop and Galleria areas, so plan your parties accordingly.
Now, if you want a driver who won't drain your wallet, there are a few free rides you can take tonight if you've been drinking. METRO buses and light rail rides will be on the house, from 6pm New Year's Eve to 6am New Year's Day. Also AAA Texas is reminding drunk drivers about "Tipsy Tow", a service that will tow you and your car home (within ten miles) for free.
Then there's Sutliff and Stout. Houston attorney's who represent victims of drunk drivers. Not wanting any future clients, the firm will pay up to $30 through Paypal, for your cab ride home on New Year's Eve night.
Plenty of opportunities to have a safe holiday. Remember drinking and driving never mix, especially on New Year's Eve.
