4-year-old boy accidentally shot in NW Harris County

HOUSTON - Authorities are investigating after they say a four year old boy was accidentally shot in northwest Harris County.

It happened at a home off Redbud Berry Way.

Officials say the child was accidentally shot in the head.

He was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF"S OFFICE RELEASE:

Harris County’s Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit Investigators responded to a call for service in the 15400 block of Redbud Berry Way around midnight after Precinct 4 Constables arrived at the home to find a 4-year-old boy had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Precinct 4 deputies arrived and found the child breathing but unresponsive.  Life flight was called and he was transported to Memorial Hermann Medical Center in critical condition.

The grandparents of the child are cooperating with investigators fully.

Homicide investigators will concluded their investigation and present the findings to a grand jury.
