HOUSTON, TX - A sunshine soaked day, kids running the bases, basically, it was a perfect setting for Astros Fan Fest at Minute Maid Park.

There was a distinct feeling of optimism at the ballpark following the team's return to the playoffs last season.

"It's really different, a different attitude," Astros fan Bob Grande said. "It's like night and day. People aren't going to doubt us anymore."

With some time still to come before spring training, Astros players enjoyed seeing each other again.

"It was a long season last year with a lot of excitement," outfielder Colby Rasmus said. "Everyone was kind of wore out, but to see everyone feeling good, refreshed, and the fans coming out here to support us, the vibe is good."

The Astros say most of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Astros Foundation's programs for at-risk children and teens.
