HOUSTON, TX  - Known as "America's Toughest Sheriff," Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona's Maricopa County was in Houston Saturday to endorse Carl Pittman for Harris County Sheriff.

"I've known him for a few years," Arpaio said. "I believe in what he stands for. He'll make a great sheriff here in Harris County."

Arpaio has been in office in Arizona since 1993 and has never been afraid of thinking outside the box. For example, he's famously known for having prisoners wear pink underwear and socks.

Pittman jokingly said he might prefer pink polka dots, but in serious matters, he's prioritizing the reduction of illegal immigration.

"Along with illegal immigration comes a lot of other things," Pittman said. "We have human trafficking, the drug trade, the sex slave - all of these things are byproducts of that very problem."

Pittman and Arpaio made their appearance at Bear Creek Community Center, and were joined by another Arizona sheriff, Richard Mack.
