Mother Nature’s fury unleashed in Taiwan and Austria

TAINAN, TAIWAN - Around the globe, from avalanche to earthquake, Mother Nature seems a mad mother.

In southern Taiwan an earthquake kills 14 and injures 500 more. As survivors are pulled from what was once a 17-story apartment building, earth movers claw through debris.

Passed from arm to arm, babies are rescued from their demolished homes.

From inside one business, surveillance video - caught at the moment the 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck - seems at first a slight indoor snow storm as walls are shaken loose, but it became so much worse.

According to officials, more than 200 people, trapped in the apartment house and other buildings,  had to be rescued.

As that region is turned upside down, word of an avalanche in Austria that killed five and injured four.

The victims were skiers - according to authorities, enjoying what would become their last day of skiing.
