Firefighters pull 95-yr-old woman out of her burning home

NORTH HOUSTON – A 95-yr-old woman had to be rescued by firefighters as her home went up in flames.

Crews arrived at the home just after midnight at Common Street and James. When they got there they found the elderly woman by the front door, barely breathing and starting to lose consciousness. Firefighters pulled her out just as the roof was collapsing. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

As for the cause, fire officials say it was an old, rust water heater that caught on fire.
