HOUSTON - Every dog has his day and yesterday was CJ’s.

CJ, a 3-year old  German Short-Haired Pointer won the ultimate “pooch pageant”- the Westminster Dog Show. While it’s fun to watch, most of us can relate more to this “precocious pup” who kept nipping at his handler's pocket for a “tummy yummy”.

All this “canine conversation” inspired us to hold an instant NewsFix Mutt Show. We went to Danny Jackson Dog Park in Southwest Houston in search of dogs worthy for the title.

  • Contestant #1 is “Blu”, a 12-year-old Corgi mix who has been the “perfect pet” her entire life.
  • Contestant #2 is Samantha, a 5-year-old mutt who, according to her handler, "has never done anything wrong in her life." Fittingly, her breed line is murky. “We think Samantha is a beagle mixed with some type of hound. You can see the beagle in her but the other part is still a mystery” explains Kat Behaine, Samantha’s "Handler".
  • Contestant #3 is Pepper, a one-and-half-year-old Akita-German Shepherd mix. Pepper believes he has the ability to move things with his mind... like tennis balls floating in the pond. So far there’s no proof he’s telekinetic, but he’s keeps trying.

Ok, so now you know our contestants.
