RICHMOND, TX  - Richmond's Police Department unveiled their latest equipment addition on Wednesday, a bullet/stab protective vest for their K9 officer, Jackie.  The vest was given to the department by an anonymous donor, through the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. organization.

"The Richmond Police Department has been truly blessed by this anonymous donor. We can never thank them enough," Lieutenant Lowell Neinast said.

While the vest is valued at around $1800, the donation to provide one vest for a law enforcement K9 is $1,050.

Officer Todd Ganey is thankful the vest will be protecting Jackie, Richmond's only K9 officer.  Jackie has worked with him the last two years.

"She's like family," Ganey said. "Not only is she a work partner, she comes home with me everyday. This extra protection is really going to come in handy. I feel safer with her having it on."
