HOUSTON — A Houston girl is the latest confirmed local case of the Zika virus.

Health officials say the girl traveled to Honduras recently. The virus has affected more than 4,000 babies in Brazil.

Officials discourage pregnant women from traveling to central or South America, if you must they suggest wearing clothing and bug spray. They are also urging you to eliminate any standing water around your home or workplace in order to limit the number of places mosquitoes can breed.

This brings the total to eight confirmed cases in Houston and Harris County.
